Vatican City is its own city/state surrounded by Rome, Italy, and is home to the Pope. It is the official headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church, and houses the Vatican Museum, The Sistine Chapel and St Peters Basilica.

The late evening turned into an early morning for the All-Americans today, but who needs sleep when you’re in the great city of ROME?! Everyone was eager to finish their breakfast and head out the door, because we were heading to the Colosseum and Roman Forum today!

All abord the TrenItalia – We’re heading to Florence, Italy today!

Over 400 participants and spectators boarded the train at Rome Termini Station and were in the heart of Florence before noon. Our first stop started off the day strong, as the “Duomo”, or the Florence Cathedral, is one of the most stunning structures to this day. This Gothic/Renaissance architecture has three apses, crowned by miniature copies of the major dome and is flanked by the magnificent Gothic bell tower by Giotto. The basilica is one of Italy’s largest churches, and it remains the largest brick dome ever constructed. Descriptions and pictures simply does not do this amazing landmark justice. You must see it for yourselves!

Rome, sweet Rome! This group of cheerleaders, dancers and drum majors all across the United States earned the opportunity to call the city of Rome “home” this week. After a full day of travel yesterday and catching up with the time change, this group was eager to explore Italy’s capital. Just like they say, “When in Rome!”
